Donation Publications Instruction

1.AIM :

This instruction  has been prepared in order to accept library materials, books, periodicals, non-book materials etc.  as donations  from persons in accordance with the purpose and principles of the university library.

2.SCOPE:

This instruction covers the acceptance of donation publications that have the qualifications suitable for a University Library. Donation publications have not lost their current and scientific character and they are suitable for the education given at the University.

 

3.DEFINITIONS:

 

3.1. Unit: Head of Department and Branch Managers

 

3.2. Donation Publishing: Books, periodicals, non-book materials, etc. which come free of charge from persons and comply with the purpose and principles of the university library.

6.APPLICATION:

6.1 Books, periodicals, non-book materials, etc. are accepted as donation from persons in accordance with the purpose and principles of the university library.

6.2 The publications to be donated must have the qualifications suitable for a University Library. The publications have not lost their up-to-date and scientific character, be suitable for the education given at the University and support researchers socially and culturally.

6.3 Publications that do not have the features specified in Article 6.2 are reserved to be sent to individuals and/or institutions requesting donations from our university. Other publications are sent to institutions for recycling.

6.4 The publication date of the materials other than social sciences must belong to the last 5 years.

6.5 Publications accepted as donations are stamped as “donated by …………” by the Library and Documentation Department.

6.6. Physically unused, stamped, drawn with notes, containing propaganda publications and publications containing primary school, high school textbooks, lecture notes, photocopied etc. cannot be accepted as donations.

6.7 In periodicals; Publications that do not provide the integrity of the volume, publications that do not provide integrity with the current collection and single issues cannot be accepted as donations.

6.8 The library administration has the authority to decide whether to add the donation to its collection and where and how it will be placed in the library. For donors, a special collection or shelf cannot be created within the library in a way that would disrupt the integrity of the collection.

6.9 The authorities and rights regarding the shelving of the publications or sending them as donations or exchanges to the library of another unit or institution for duplicate copies belong to the Library and Documentation Department.

6.10 Materials that are suitable for the library collection are taken as fixture numbers and processed for other materials and added to the collection. A letter of appreciation is written to those whose donations (donation publication) are accepted by the Library and Documentation Department. If requested, in addition to the letter of appreciation, the list of donation publications participating in the collection is given to the donor.

6.11 Donors cannot claim any rights or requests regarding their subsequent donations.
